We would be lying to ourselves if we didn’t admit to the fact that we are all a work in progress. The second we come to terms with this is the second we move one step closer towards a happy life, financial stability, and a healthy workflow. The following post will break down some of the personal development tips I implemented into my daily life that have given me excellent results.
Whether you’re an entrepreneur, freelancer, or an employee at a 9-5, it’s important to keep in mind that to be your best self you will need to make adjustments to your habits, workflow, mindset and overall behavior. Our journey to success demands discipline and the ability to constantly reinvent ourselves.
You may be wondering why your business isn’t hitting sales goals or deliverables or you may have unsatisfied clients and issues within your team. Are you a freelancer that is backed up on current projects and with little to no prospects in the pipeline to bring new income? You may also be frustrated that your 9-5 isn’t giving you the raise or the respect and attention you feel you deserve in the workplace.
Any of these issues and everything in between them can be addressed by making immediate changes to your routine. The following personal development tips apply to salaried employees, business owners and anyone looking to level up.
Make a list of the top 3 things you’d like to address and improve. Whether you are having issues with communication, punctuality, motivation, or health. The first step will be to identify issues that are keeping you back from operating at your best.
Waking up just one hour earlier every day will allow you to operate and think with a clearer mind. Rather than jumping into the shower, skipping breakfast, and going out the door in a rush, you can plan out your day. You can review your daily goals, have breakfast, read a few pages of a book or the news or even mediate. Challenge yourself to wake up one hour earlier tomorrow. But make sure you get enough sleep!
Having a productive early morning means looking over your plans for the day and ensuring the execution of those goals is on track. Your daily goals may be for business or for your personal life. It may seem simple and obvious, but not many people do this. Doing this allows you to get a clear view of your days layout allowing you to pivot or plan accordingly with a fresh mind. This leads to better healthier decisions.
Keeping track of all your goals and checklists in your mind is nearly impossible and not very efficient. You need to clear up mental space. You also don’t want to risk leaving your notebook somewhere and being blocked out from properly working through your planner. It’s important to be able to access them from anywhere on any device. Most importantly you have to keep track of your own efficiency. One great tool I use for both business and personal is Asana. It allows me to keep track of my goals, tracks my efficiency and even shows me all my productivity with charts and graphs.
Stay hydrated throughout the day! Health authorities recommend eight 8-ounce glasses, which is about 2 liters (half a gallon).
Cells that don’t maintain their balance of fluids and electrolytes shrivel, which can result in muscle fatigue. “When muscle cells don’t have adequate fluids, they don’t work as well and performance can suffer,” – WEB MD.
It is important to adopt healthy habits like drinking enough water and exercising to maintain an active routine.
Attend mastermind groups or events related to your industry. This allows you to stay current on the latest and most innovative practices in your industry. It also allows you to be around individuals who are engaging in these practices and are more likely to open up doors of opportunity.
If traveling is not possible try and join Facebook communities, Slack groups, or online mastermind sessions. A lot of them are free and easy to access.
Not everyone has the same goals or issues to address, but we can definitely benefit from a balanced and organized lifestyle and work structure that will take stress and clutter out of our daily life and more importantly from our mind.
